Kingsdown touts that its Body System beds take into account your individual body type, so you can be sure of getting both the comfort and support you need. But can a traditional, inner-spring mattress really give you the comfort and support that is offered by newer mattress types such as memory foam from manufacturers like Tempur Pedic?

All Kingsdown mattresses are inner-spring mattresses. This type of mattress has been made for about a hundred years or so, which is how long the company has been around. The company does not – at least until now – make any other type of mattress. Water, air, pocket coil and memory foam mattress have no place in the Kingsdown range.

So, how does the Kingsdown Body System mattress rate against other mattresses on offer and does this mattress really give you the support and sleep comfort it claims?

First off, as already said, the Body System mattress is an inner-spring mattress, which means that all the coils are interconnected. The company uses high-tempered steel coils. It doesn't manufacturer the coils but buys them in, along with the rest of the materials used in the manufacture of its mattresses. This doesn't mean that Kingsdown mattresses use inferior materials; just about every other manufacturer of quality mattresses buys in all the components. Only manufacturers of very expensive mattresses like Stearns and Foster make their own coils.

Each manufacturer claims that what really sets its mattress apart from its competitors is the design and technology used in the manufacturing process. Kingsdown have spent a lot of time and energy into using computer technology to create its new system of top quality mattresses. The Body System mattress comes in numerous configurations so that no matter what size or shape the sleeper, there's a mattress to suit.

But how does Kingsdown ensure that the consumer chooses the best mattress? The answer is it doesn't let the customer choose; instead it lets a computer do it. The Dormo-Diagnostics Sleep Machine from Kingsdown is a computer system that has been compiled from sleep research carried out on millions of people. This data is used in conjunction with a customer questionnaire and with the customer lying down for less than a minute on a special bed that takes the customer's unique profile. A few minutes later a sleep profile is printed out and the customer is advised as to the best mattress for their needs.

Some may argue that a computer won't give you the answer to finding a perfect mattress but there's no denying that computer technology is being used more and more as an aid in purchasing many products.

In conclusion, the Kingsdown Body System is no better or worse than competitors like the Sealy Posturepedic mattress or the Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress. All of them use pretty much the same materials and the same design and technology. What may give it the edge is by using computer technology as an aid to allow consumers to choose the best mattress.
